This course is designed to prepare you to be a successful college writer, and to feel confident in how you approach the writing process. The short-term goal of this class is to prepare you for success in English 110, but what you learn in this course will also prepare you for the many literacy demands you will encounter in college and beyond. We will read and write consistently over the course of our time together. We will work together to understand how writing works, and the ways we produce “good” writing spanning across many contexts, whether it be a college essay, short story, news article, or anything else. As your professor, I will provide a variety of opportunities for you to practice writing and experiment with what works for you as a writer, reader, student, and citizen. My hope is that this class will empower you as writers and students, and guide you in how to bring your own voices and experiences with you on this new educational journey.
