Technology has been a major contributor to the AEC industry and continues shape the way we build our living environments. This class will serve as an introduction overview to what Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) are, and how they are a part in the construction process.
We will discuss BIM processes and workflows, including BIM for coordination (3D), BIM for scheduling (3D + Time = 4D) and BIM for estimating (3D+ 4D + Cost = 5D) with the use of various software programs and tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Procore.
Finally, this class will also explore and discuss digital twins, AI, GIS and how new technology continues to help us build smarter and better performing buildings.
