Course Description

This course is concerned with the development, administration, scoring and interpretation of assessment measures in understanding an individual.  Emphasis will be placed on commercial tests and inventories widely used in schools, private industry and clinical setting and on issues of cultural bias and ethics in testing.

After a review of basic measurement concepts, the focus will shift to assessment of cognitive abilities and achievement, including performance-based assessment, and personality, with the specific emphasis on the interpretation and integration of test scores for individuals who might be in counseling.  Exposure to and practice with statistical analysis used in research and in research papers for this program will also be included.
