Course Description
This course explores the college admissions process and the critical role that counselors play in this important time in a student’s life.  An emphasis will be placed upon a 9th– 12th grade-counseling curriculum that presents a holistic approach to college advising.  This course will also provide students with an understanding of the essentials of college advising from writing the secondary school report to assisting students in the formation of a college list, to attaining teacher recommendations and in the writing of the personal statement as well as applying for financial aid/ scholarships.  In addition, this course will present the many on-line resources that will assist counselors in advising their students. The course will also include curriculum planning and resources to guide and advise middle school students for early college planning and career awareness.
